Recognizing the need for more Marine Engineers, Mohamed Sathak Trust had started the four year bachelors degree course in Marine Engineering,the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu. The course was started in the year 1997. This department has well equipped laboratory containing Main Machinery like Diesel engines, Propellers and Rudders as well as Auxilary machinery components like Seamanship, navigational aids, life saving appliances and fire fighting equipment.This department is having good collection of text books and reference books in the library. Besides the well qualified faculty to teach Marine Engineering subjects, we also have arrangements for distinguished visiting Marine Engineers to suppliment our faculty's teaching.The department has collaboration with the Tuticorim Port Trust, Tuticorin for practical training of students at the Port's workshops. Efforts are on to collaborate with other major ports in India for training of students.
